KGF director Prashanth Neel has said that the success of the first two films have put a ‘compulsion’ to make the third part. He added that ‘we don’t know when, but we will keep it going’.
The director of KGF films, Prashanth Neel, has said that the third film in the franchise is out of compulsion. KGF Chapter 2 end credits teased fans for a third installment. Starring Yash in the lead role, the film also featured Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon and Prakash Raj.
KGF: Chapter 2 is a Kannada film, starring Yash and is a sequel to the 2018 hit KGF: Chapter 1. KGF Chapter 2 has earned over ₹1250 crore at the box office, and ₹435 crore of those came from the Hindi version alone.
Asked whether he was actually considering KGF Chapter 3, Prashanth told the Youtube channel Galatta Plus, “There is definitely a possibility of Chapter 3. That also comes out of compulsion. People have loved this world, they’ve loved this character and we are gonna keep it going. We don’t know when, but we are gonna keep it going”.
He added, “Of course, we have an idea. We had an idea for it a long time back actually, but right now we just want to take a big break and we will definitely come back to make that.”
KGF Chapter 3, its making and release: Know what Neel said
Everyone must have it in their memory that the post-credit sequence of KGF Chapter 2 gave a glance of a file named KGF Chapter 3 final draft when Rocky’s crimes in the United States of America were being investigated following his ‘death’ in the climax of the second installment.
When asked if the glance was just a tease or if there is a possibility of the third installment, Neel said, “There is definitely a possibility of Chapter 3. That also comes out of compulsion. People have loved this world, they’ve loved this character and we are gonna keep it going. We don’t know when, but we are gonna keep it going”.
He further said, “We had an idea for it for a long time but right now we just wanna take a big break from KGF and we will definitely come back to make that.”
Before spilling the beans about KGF 3, Neel also revealed some of the unknown things that the fans were anxious about.
Why did Yash get the name Rocky?
As earlier speculated, Neel opted to give Rocky as Yash’s nickname in the movie as Kannada movie Rocky was a blockbuster of the Rocking Star and he gained fame after that.
Why did Prakash Raj replace Anant Nag as the narrator?
Talking about replacing Anant Nag with Prakash Raj as the narrator, Neel said, “Anant sir didn’t want to do the second installment, so, I had to improvise.” Even, Neel didn’t further comment on why Nag wasn’t interested in being a part of the second installment.

Prashant Neel seems adamant about keeping the same team members from the film; the cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda and the soundtrack composer Ravi Basrur have been with him since his debut film.
