After finishing their meal, Jones and Junker returned to the Texas School Book Depository around 1:00 PM, where they were questioned by the police in the Macmillan offices. In an oral history, Jones recalled noticing an interaction involving a person carrying a small box that contained what appeared to be a piece of skull, likely related to the aftermath of the shooting.
Jones also mentioned a significant detail about Lee Harvey Oswald being allowed to leave the Texas School Book Depository, which raised questions about the police response and security in the immediate aftermath of the assassination.
